(Apologies if this was covered already) Is it okay/recommended to apply to multiple departments’ PhD programs at JHU? E.g., biostatistics and epidemiology
Annika Gompers
35:32
Is the 2 page word limit single or double spaced?
Daniel Chang
36:08
In vein with the question above about multiple departments, should we briefly address in our statement about why we applied to multiple departments?
Michelle Miao Qin

I have a PharmD and wanted to do phd in Epidemiology. Having a doctoral degree in pharmacy and wanted to focus on epidemiological research? May I know, whether the faculty can help me towards the research?

There is a strong pharmaco epi group in our Department, which also overlaps a lot with clinical trials

Is a professional mentor (she is also an Epidemiologist) be a good candidate for writing a letter of recommendation? A colleague or Board member in my organization?
Alden Gross!
57:42
@Chelsey. Absolutely. If they know you well and if they have experience as an epidemiologist, that's fine. Hopefully the _context_ in which they know you can inform us about your ability to do research, your quantitative or leadership skills, etc.
Aparajita Chandrasekhar
59:16
Just to clarify, should we keep our SOP around 500 words? (Like Fran said in the beginning)
Aparajita Chandrasekhar

01:02:07
Is there any recommended words / pages limits for the recommendation? to what degree of the letters should be?
Alden Gross!
01:04:02
@Liuye, no limits to the recommendations. About a page is reasonable, but that's really up to the LOS writer. Terse, 2 sentence recommendations may sound bad, but some faculty are just like that. Effusive LOS are long, and we'll read those too.
