States with the policy regularly show lowered rates of both firearm homicide and suicide – however, gun violence prevention advocates across the country have faced challenges in passing this life-saving policy. The Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions will host a webinar on July 10 from 12:00 p.m. -- 1:00 p.m. EST to share insights from researchers, advocates and lawmakers. Expert panelists include Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD) who will discuss his experience pushing for firearm licensing at the federal level, Dylan O’Connor with the Alliance for Gun Safety will share his experience successfully advocating for licensing in Washington and Cass Crifasi of the Center who will share evidence showing Firearm Purchaser Licensing is an effective solution to save lives. Panelists: Silvia Villarreal, MPP - moderator, director of research translation at the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions Congressman Jamie Raskin – U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 8th District Cass Crifasi, PhD, MPH - co-director, Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions Dylan O’Connor – Director of Government Relations, Alliance for Gun Responsibility Opinions shared by panelists are their own and do not reflect the official stance of Johns Hopkins University or the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
